    Re: tty 2 question

Then succeeding users doesn't apply to your system. Just ignore that then.
This is just the way is works (or is suppose to work) if you had multiple users who would be logged into the same machine...

    Re: tty 2 question

tty2/vt2 is the default for the first logged in user's desktop sessions now.

The login screen gdm3 is set at tty1/vt1, and first user gets vt2.
Succeeding users should get the next in line.

You're not rebooting into the latest kernel.
Current latest is the 5.15.0-107-generic kernel.

[server] Re: Upgrade 22.04 to 24.04

From 22.04 the upgrade to 24.04 will not be available until the first point release sometime in August.
Possibly earlier with the -d flag.

It's been this way for over a decade now.

  9. Re: unable to update snapd-sesktop-integration: cannot perform the following tasks

Maybe just remove the .snap directory.
It's telling you that the snap directory already exists.
You can double check what's in there by running an ls command to list contents.

    ls .snap

Easy way to tell if it's the snap version is to try accessing help.
The snap version can't access the online manual.

[SOLVED] Re: How do I install the App Center?

Looks like it, yes. Since it's based on gnome-software.
    Behaves like it, partially.
    It cannot install flatpaks.
And cannot install deb files from the desktop.
  13. [ubuntu] Re: Updating Ubuntu 24.04 LTS from Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

This is a debian package manager change.
    Upstream from debian.
Ubuntu simply has decided to use it.
Old Sources will still work, for a while at least.

  20. [ubuntu] Re: Updating Ubuntu 24.04 LTS from Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

No -d needed to upgrade from 22.04 to 23.10 as 23.10 is considered the next available release already.

Re: Cannot run deb programs in 24.04

Chrome adds their repo to the system upon initial install so it'll get updates whenever you run an update.
But that's a specific design of chrome, +1 to needing to watch others that don't do that.

    Re: Ubuntu 24.04 no synaptic

You need to make sure the Community (universe) repository is enabled.
See if it's checked (enabled) in Software and Updates.
If it's not, check it to enable it.
